Historical archive and current-status notice

This page is retained for historical reference only. It describes Opportunity Zone concepts and earlier Cornerstone educational materials from a prior period. Cornerstone does not present Qualified Opportunity Zone (QOZ) or Qualified Opportunity Fund (QOF) investments as currently available through this page.

The federal Opportunity Zone framework is in a transition period. Legislative and regulatory changes can affect zone designations, eligibility, deadlines, tax treatment, reporting, and fund availability. The historical material below may not reflect current law or Cornerstone’s current product scope. Do not rely on this page for an investment, tax, or legal decision.

Historical overview

Opportunity Zones were created under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. Earlier Cornerstone materials discussed how investments associated with qualified opportunity zones and qualified opportunity funds had been structured and described potential tax considerations subject to applicable law, regulations, offering documents, and investor eligibility requirements.

Those historical descriptions are preserved for reference and education. They are not a statement that any QOZ or QOF investment is currently offered, approved, listed, or available through Cornerstone.

What this historical page covered

  • Historical descriptions of QOZ and QOF structures and designated-zone concepts.
  • Historical discussion of tax timing, holding periods, reporting, and differences from a Section 1031 exchange.
  • Risk considerations, including illiquidity, potential loss of principal, market and development risk, tax and regulatory risk, leverage, fees, and sponsor or property risk.

None of these historical topics should be read as a current offering description, recommendation, solicitation, assurance of tax treatment, or assurance of investment results. Current terms, eligibility, tax treatment, reporting, and availability must be confirmed from current official guidance and applicable offering documents.
